As Russia’s Science Day approached, I had the great honor of attending my first official meeting with Professor Vladimir Shkarin, the Rector of Volgograd State Medical University (VolgGMU). This gathering brought together PhD students, members of the Scientific Society of Young Scientists and Students, and future innovators in the field of science. It was a truly special moment for me, as I had the opportunity to share my personal journey in Volgograd and express my gratitude for the incredible support I’ve received throughout my academic and professional path.
A Journey That Started with a Simple Message
Looking back to 2021, my connection with VolgGMU started in an unexpected yet remarkable way. As a foreign student at the university’s PMFI branch, I reached out via social media, sending a small book I had written on dental instruments to the rector. Honestly, I never expected a response. However, to my surprise, within a single day, I received a reply with encouragement and the possibility of publishing my book.
That moment was life-changing—it motivated me to pursue scientific research with even greater passion.
From Student to Faculty Member
After graduating, I received an important call from Professor Polikova L.V., informing me that Professor Kalashnikova S.A. was offering me a position at the Department of Anatomy at VolgGMU. Without hesitation, I accepted the opportunity.
Upon my arrival in Volgograd, I was warmly welcomed by Professor Polikova L.V. and Ms. Alshuk N.A., who introduced me to the university and guided me through my new role. Since I had a strong command of English, Professor Alshuk N.A. invited me to also work as a Specialist in the Department of International Relations, further expanding my professional experience.
Opportunities and Growth
During my time in this role, I had the privilege of representing VolgGMU in Egypt, fostering academic collaboration with Port Said University. Meanwhile, in my work at the Department of Anatomy, I was encouraged to pursue a PhD, which became possible thanks to my wonderful academic advisor, Professor Kalashnikova S.A..
She has been more than just a mentor—she has guided me through both my scientific and teaching journey. Together with Professor Polikova L.V., she has continuously supported me, helping me navigate the challenges of academia. I am incredibly grateful for the warm and friendly atmosphere they have cultivated in the Department of Anatomy, which makes working there both fulfilling and inspiring.
The Future of My Research
Now, as a PhD student, my research focuses on:
🦷 “Variational Anatomy of the Occlusal Surface of Permanent Teeth in Patients with Bruxism.”
Every step of this journey has reinforced my passion for science, my commitment to education, and my deep appreciation for the people who have supported me along the way. My first meeting with the Rector of VolgGMU was not only a moment of pride but also a powerful reminder of how far I have come—and how much more there is to achieve.
I look forward to the future of my scientific career at VolgGMU and to contributing even more to international cooperation, research, and education.
